Newsletter Purpose & Intent: This is an unusual newsletter. It is intended to be the voice of the militant Libertarian and the reasonable militia member.

200 years ago, this political newsletter would have been considered left of center. 100 years ago, the things stated herein would have been belaboring the obvious. Today, the concepts of limited government, personal freedom and responsibility make this newsletter seem radical. But since there are few other places available for the dissemination of these opinions, this newsletter is proud to make do.

The views expressed in this newsletter are not those of the Missouri Libertarian party or of various militia groups. But they damn well should be.

"Any such change must come not by legislation adopted either by Congress or by an individual state but rather . . . through the amendment procedures," Justice John Paul Stephens wrote for the court. Voting with this justice were the usual suspects.

Clarence Thomas wrote the dissent. "Nothing in the Constitution deprives the people of each state of the power to prescribe eligibility requirements of the candidates who seek to represent them in Congress." Voting with this justice were the usual suspects.

Twenty-two states with over 100 million population approved term-limits, but these desperate peoples' political views are ignored. Unaccountable judges upheld unaccountable politicians who gave them unaccountable power. But don't worry. There's more than one way to skin a politician.

How is this to be accomplished? By using mirrors and smoke from burning bullshit.

He would be far more honest if he would just throw one big last party where everyone inhaled and then just handed over the check to the kids, who will refuse to pay.

This goes to show what happens to a conservative who "grows" into liberal doxology. What little brain extant in the first place softens to the point where they can speak hypocritical socialist drivel and not realize mental termination occurred.

He is hailed for writing the legal opinions that legally defined obscenity, established busing as a tool to end segregation, forcing the then-First Crook Nixon to release the Watergate tapes, and serving as unpaid chairman of the Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Thomas Jefferson would have found Burger to be an exemplary "miner and sapper of the Constitution," although not as gifted of one as his cousin John Marshall.

William Rogers, Lawyer-General in the Eisenhower Administration and Secretary of State under Nixon, said, "Warren presided with great distinction over some of the most significant decisions in the court's history. With the passage of time, his great contribution to the history of our nation will be more and more understood and appreciated."

Like history's ongoing appreciation of Hitler and Stalin and their contributions to humanity, there's no need to wait. Thank God -- another lawyer dead.

The U.S. bond market was roiled by rumors that Japan would retaliate by refusing to buy any more Treasury bills and U.S. debt. There was talk about U.S. government hypocrisy and taking the dispute to GATT judgement, where the U.S. would lose because it broke the rules. But in the end, the Japanese came to heel and some U.S. demands were moderated. The next day, the chicken game resumed when Eastman Kodak accused Fuji Film of improper trade practices.

All the Asians lack is a Kipling to urge them to "Take up the yellow man's burden."
This new police procedure could be properly described as "Wacoizing" evidence. The technique is quite simple: Make sure that your people are the only ones allowed at the scene, leak "facts" to a gullible, controlled, and slavish media, then announce some excuse for bulldozing or blasting the evidence. Allow no uncontrolled investigation time or access to the crime scene before destruction. Then stonewall, lie, and whitewash the covered-up action and demonize and prosecute the opposition before a government judge.

It has been effective so far.

The Democrats are afraid gun control will be set back 20-30 years and the Republicans wish to show they support the police-state bureaucracies and are tough on all crime except governmental. So the end result will be a further whitewash which tars the accessory Republicans as well.

The essential facts are clear: An unConstitutional national police bureaucracy started an unConstitutional raid to enforce unConstitutional gun laws using an illegal warrant. The Branch Davidians defended themselves. Four of Bill Clinton's bodyguards from the Secret Service were killed along with at least six Branch Davidians. Military helicopters and tanks were used illegally under cover of drug allegations. After a 51 day siege in which the FBI cut off all contact with the Branch Davidians, the government used poison gas banned by international treaty ostensibly to help the children, who burned to death along with their parents. Twelve survivors were found not-guilty of murder and conspiracy by a jury, but a government judge gave most of the survivors 40-year sentences for unConstitutional gun law violations.

Since the Branch Davidians are dead, and their tormentors are alive, and government agents are the ones who destroyed the evidence, the only proper verdict is one of first-degree murder for all those responsible -- from Bill Clinton and Janet Reno at the top, to the lowest agent in the field at the bottom. Judgement of death by hanging to be carried out at once at the scene of the crime.

So will an impartial real hearing ever be conducted by the U.S. Government? Of course not -- any more than an impartial hearing could be held by the SS regarding certain "mistakes [which] were made" at Dachau, Buchenwald or Treblinka. The Nazis and Communists, for all their faults, were far more honest.

First Baby-Roaster Clinton demanded an apology for these words of truth from the NRA and the NRA slavishly complied. Then the First Crook demanded that the NRA give up the $1 million proceeds from the letter, and the NRA refused. Then the NRA was audited by the IRS.

If you tuck tail and run, it serves you right when you are mauled by jackals.

It was meant to be a government propaganda victory. The Senators formed a Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology & Government Information, Senate Terrorism Subcommittee for short. This is a heavy-handed attempt by the government to label militias as terrorists.

Among the government-enforcement officers called was none other than Colonel Fred Mills, Superintendent of the Missouri Highway Patrol. He testified as to how hate groups and extremists had terrorized Missouri Highway Patrolmen. All these terrorists are from Southwestern Missouri. There is a 1984 law in Missouri against paramilitary training that the state government inteds to use against militiamen. After making a number of misstatements and half-truths he went on to thank his boss. "We have a governor like Governor Carnahan that's joined us on the front line the bottle, [sic] the battle to remove the cancer of crime that plagues our communities." Count on a policeman to support the biggest crook that gives him money and position.

Common to all the government officials was the wail about hate speech against the government and how "something" must be done to curb such "inflammatory" rhetoric, but oh, how they support the First Amendment! This was nothing more than a wink, wink, nudge, nudge for fascism under cover of law. They linked militias with the KKK, Aryan Nations and racism in general.

The militiamen made the excellent tactical move of bringing James Johnson, an Ohio Unorganized Militia leader and one of the founders of E Pluribus Unum, a political group, with them. Mr. Johnson is black. He stymies the tar-brush applied by government workers and "liberals" that militia groups are racist. But Mr. Johnson is an effective political militiaman in his own right. The closest that there came to be a true understanding between Senators and militiamen, government and citizen, was in the questions asked and answered between Senator Fred Thompson of Tennessee, a conservative who questioned the need for more laws and policemen, and Mr. James Johnson, militiaman.

Mr. John Trochman from the Militia of Montana quoted from such a Libertarian document as Frederic Bastiat's The Law in his opening statement. The rest of the militiamen were relatively restrained, except for Norman Olson. The only things marring the militia appearance was Mr. Fletcher's statement about how the government is using weather control to punish Montana farmers and Mr. Olson's fax about the Japanese bombing OKC in retaliation for subway gas attacks.

The militiamen didn't seem like wild men. They made their points and aired their suspicions about U.S. government involvement in the OKC bombing.

Senator Specter did his best Joseph McCarty imitation in trying to get Commander Norman Olson of the Michigan Militia to confess to anti-Semitism, but Mr. Olson refused to let Senator Specter "Twist my tongue around your axle."

Look at the full C-Span tape sometime. You will see the militia is winning.

So after years of wasted money, scholastic failure and judicial usurpation of taxation, the Supreme Court belatedly allows the State of Missouri to try cleaning up the mess created by one of their own.
Hundreds of people, two-thirds of whom were wanted on traffic matters, were sent letters from a bogus Missouri Department of Consumer Services, Division of Rebates, Refunds and Returns, telling them that they could claim $2,500 as a share of settlement money obtained from a sweepstakes company which failed to award prizes. The Attorney-General's office sent these letters. Once the victims of this deceit had been lured to Joplin, they were arrested and taken to jail by the Jasper County Sheriff's Department.

Some people got wind of this, and since they had cleared outstanding warrants, decided to get the promised money. They were arrested, then released and told, like Scott Simons, a victim of check forgery, "to keep my mouth shut and act like it was the best day of my life. . . . They told me that there had already been people who had bonded out and come back to warn other people, and they had arrested them for obstruction." Seems like petty criminals have a greater sense of obligation to fellow human beings than cops do.

Chief-Weasel Nixon justified his dishonor. "It would not be feasible for local law-enforcement agencies to travel to make these arrests." Chances were "close to nil" anyone could win a judgement against the state because of the deceptive measures used to lure people to the sting or because someone claimed to have been falsely arrested.

The Federal lawyers support this crookedness. Law-enforcement officials can use any false pretenses they choose to apprehend fugitives, said Chris Whitley, a spokesman for U.S. Attorney Stephen Hill. "Courts have upheld this sort of thing again and again," Whitley said. The government can do anything it wants, without fear of retaliation.

This is the third time that Attorney-General Nixon and his staff have pulled this trick. They slimed Clay and Jefferson Counties previously. The Joplin Police Department pulled this stunt in June, 1993, and only abandoned it in the face of public outcry. The Jasper County Sheriff's Department learned nothing from three years ago when they arrested and caged anti-George Bush protesters when the then First Wuss was campaigning there. What is to stop them from doing this sort of thing, again and again? They have no internal moral constraints and they have learned they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and to a limited degree, to whomever they want. No man's life, liberty, or property is safe around government-enforcement officials.

An FBI complaint was made, then rejected, as the Springfield Chief Thomas DenOuden thought that Deputy Jerry Gilbert had acted "very professionally" in the "perfectly legal" arrest under Revised Statue of Missouri 67.315.

RSMo 67.315 starts out thusly. "Any person who appears to be intoxicated or incapacitated . . . ." can be held for safekeeping for twelve hours and the officer can't be charged with false arrest. This is a weasel statute allowing police state officers to kidnap people for a period of time without fear of consequences masquerading as concern for the publicly drunk and insane.

Now is the time for all good men to kick the butt of their rascal country.

Richardson apologized in a June 23rd letter to his Republican colleagues in the House for any embarrassment he might have caused them. "These charges are serious items. No one should drink and drive. . . (No one?) I intend to be as open as possible about the situation and am happy to answer any questions you have." In his letter, lawyer Richardson did not inform his Republican colleagues as to why he waited a month to tell them.

On July 6th in front of Sharp County Arkansas Municipal Judge Kevin King, Representative Richardson got off. Richardson and experts said cold medication loosened mucus in Richardson's lungs, which released gas containing alcohol and that was read by the Breathalyser, instead of Richardson's actual blood-alcohol content.

Can't you just see it now? Lawyer-Legislator Richardson has paved the way for a new legal defense for hordes of drunken mean likkered-up redneck-peckerwoods in pickup trucks. "Cough, Cough. Yeah, it was like this yer honor, I was taking cold medication and some likker peeled off my lungs and screwed up the machine and whatever the other stuff that lawyer-politician said and did the other day to get away with it."

The fact of the matter is that it wouldn't have worked unless Richardson had enough "pull" to get away with it. If Richardson had any respect for the law, he would have pled guilty and took his lumps like a man, instead of wiggling off the penalty hook of similar legislation he helped pass in Missouri. Even a reprobate like Bob Griffin, when he got caught drinking Bloody Marys in a state car a couple of years ago, had the decency to admit his guilt before petitioning for a "hardship" license after 30 days. This is the conduct of a Republican Minority Leader and potential governor? What does that say for the character of any Republican House member who votes for this man to become Speaker of the House? Bah! Bob Griffin is a comparatively honest crook.

The state legislature, in its wisdom, said that only 45 percent of a town's total revenue can come from this organized theft under cover of law. The stealing will otherwise continue. The rest of the loot must go to the county schools. That'll teach the nippers to be honest, will it?

Thank you, General Assembly, for allowing those who are supposed to protect and serve be less than half a thief.

So the Feds finished off their building in Oklahoma City.

Good.

What happens now is the emergence of two separate fighting faiths for two different sides. Facts are now irrelevant.

One minority goes to bed at every night believing whatever the government and media tells them to believe. The majority is uneasy, straddling the fence for as long as possible, hoping to choose wisely the winning side. A militant minority believes a criminal, evil government murdered their own for fun and profit and that they are next. On all sides, there is no room for argument.

The division lines are mapped out. Those working for or supported by the government, consumers, parasites, the takers want the current government order to continue for as long as possible. People wronged, imprisoned, productive, the givers under duress; they have little reason to support the current social order; they have every reason and interest for destroying it. The apathetic, uneasy majority will be forced by design or circumstance to take sides. Then the weaker minority will be eliminated.

So what will stop the upcoming civil war? All of one or portions of both of the following two solutions:

1) The solution for evil is justice. Any government official who has destroyed a citizen's life, liberty, or property must pay in kind for his acts of commission and omission. Killers must hang, kidnappers must be enslaved, thieves must make restitution. Anyone who has covered up the truth must also pay for the whitewashed act, as few criminals commit crimes when certain of punishment. Anything less is much too little, much too late. Where there is no Justice, there can be no Peace.

2) Bills of Individual Divorcement from the State. If the majority wants to morally cannibalize and be morally cannibalized, let them. Let them pay higher taxes, fight foreign wars, be the lawyer's and politician's and rich, powerful men's cattle. But we want out. Let us go in peace. We will pay for government services we consume. We will make restitution for wrongs we commit. But given a choice of slavery or war, we will choose war.

Buckle down and hold on to your seats. There's a rough road ahead.

* Judges Decide *

Term limits went down in flames and perhaps it is time for a little review about why people are so mad at their government. Without going into whether term limits are good or bad, democratic or anti-democratic, it's significant that, for whatever reason, 80 percent of Americans (according to polls) favor them -- that's just over 200 million people. The majority of voters in 23 states enacted them. With the Supreme Court's decision, though, the beliefs of five people -- the five judges who decided that term limits are unconstitutional -- just negated the desires of millions of voters.

Term limits are but the latest example. In California, a single judge nullified the vote of 5.5 million voters on Proposition 187. and here in Missouri, we still suffer under the desegregation orders of another federal judge. If the people feel powerless to change their government via legitimate political means perhaps it's because when they do make their voice heard through their elected representatives it often gets nullified in the federal courts.

The issue is really this, though: Do we live in a democratic republic where the will of the majority is reflected through their elected representatives, or do we live in a judicial monarchy subject to the whims and morals of federal judges? The answer to that question is indicated in the growing militia movement. These groups are not forming in a vacuum. When a people's ability to change a government through the legitimate political process is thwarted, some will resort to changing government the old-fashioned way. As President Kennedy put it: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable."

* Why is this newsletter such a long one? *

Because it's late, that's why.
Between getting thrown in jail for 12 hours under cover of law because I annoyed a court officer by carrying my tape recorder and taping stuff and having to generate an FBI complaint and losing a 7 1/2 hour jury trial over a burned-out headlight, fighting a crooked judge and persecuting attorney every step of the way, and then having to write motions for a new trial and an appeal and trying to sue every crooked cop and lawyer and judge and politician in two counties and fighting with pud-pullers and not getting up before 10:00 a.m. every morning if I can possibly help it, you try and write a newsletter in two months.
So it's gonna be a big one and I hope you enjoy it at no added expense.

Part Nine of a continuing series. This column intends to give Libertarians running for office a practical guide on issues to bring up and exploit to the dismay of Demo-Publicans, who have no idea of how to solve the problems they have created.

** Sound Planks, Sound Platform **

The Executive Director's Proposed 1995-1996 Missouri Libertarian Party Platform

STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
We, the members of the Libertarian Party, challenge the cult of the omnipotent state and defend the rights of the individual. We hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live as they choose, so long as they do not interfere with the equal right of others to live as they choose. We hold that government must not violate the rights of any individual and that people should not be forced to sacrifice their lives, liberty or property for the benefit of others.

INDIVIDUAL SOVEREIGNTY
No decision should be made by Congress which could be made by the legislatures of the several states; no decision should be made by state legislators when it could be made by referendum; no statewide referendum should be held when the several counties might better determine the merits of the issue one by one; and no county, city, or town should force the will of the majority upon the individual when it can possibly be avoided. The purpose of government is to protect the rights of the individual--nothing more, nothing less, and nothing else.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
The wisdom -- and the consequences -- of any peaceful course of action are properly the domain of individual conviction. It is improper for the state or society to force its will upon an individual "for his own protection" or for any imagined benefit to society that must be gained at the expense of individual liberty and the freedom to make one's own mistakes.

THE FAMILY
We believe that government should support societal structures such as family by allowing individuals to define their own moral compass regarding their relationships with one another -- so long as this compass does not tend in the direction of violating others' rights. It is not the state's function to define or limit concepts such as marriage, or to regulate consensual adult sexual activity. We believe that families are entitled to dispose of their property as they desire, rather than having it taken from them and spent by the state on their purported behalf.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION
We defend the rights of individuals to engage in any religious activities that do not violate the rights of others. We oppose government actions that either aid or attack any religion. Government harassment or obstruction of religious groups for their beliefs or non-violent activities must end.

EDUCATION
We advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. They also require onerous taxation of non-parents as part of their funding scheme. As an interim measure, we support the sanction of voucher programs and tax credits for those who choose to educate their children at home or in a private institution.

POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT
We oppose all government-funded "entitlement" programs which forcibly redistribute wealth from one individual to another. No person is entitled to the property of another under other conditions than those of voluntary trade or charity. We believe that the current welfare state encourages dependency rather than initiative, that it fosters poverty and unemployment rather than self-help and prosperity, and that it is built upon the immoral concept that one man may justly demand his livelihood at the cost of unwilling others.

THE RIGHT TO PROPERTY
All rights are inextricably linked with property rights. Such rights as the freedom from involuntary servitude as well as the freedom of speech and the freedom of press are based on self-ownership. We demand an end to the taxation of privately owned real property, which actually makes the State the owner of all lands and forces individuals to rent their homes and places of business from the State. Where property, including land, has been taken from its rightful owners by the government or private action in violation of individual rights, we demand full restitution to the rightful owners. In addition, we demand a repeal of immoral and unconstitutional "asset forfeiture" regulations which allow the confiscation of property without requiring proof of its unlawful use.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
We support Congressional investigation of criminal activities of the BATF and FBI and of wrongdoing by other governmental agencies.

THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS
An armed citizenry is essential to a free society. We affirm the right to keep and bear arms by law abiding citizens, be they individuals or members of a voluntary association or militia. We favor the repeal of laws banning the concealment of weapons.

DISCRIMINATION
Individual rights should not be denied, abridged, or enhanced at the expense of other people's rights by the laws at any level of government. Anti-discrimination enforced by the government is the reverse side of the coin, and will for the same reasons create the same problems.

RIGHTS OF THE ACCUSED
Until such time as persons are proved guilty of crimes, they should be accorded full respect for their individual rights. We are thus opposed to reduction of constitutional safeguards of the rights of the criminally accused. We oppose labeling cases as "civil" strictly to avoid the due-process protections of criminal law and we further oppose governmental civil and criminal pretrial seizure of property for criminal offenses.

JURIES
Judges should be required to inform the jurors of their common law right to judge the law, as well as the facts, and to acquit a criminal defendant, and to find against the government in a civil trial, whenever they deem the law unjust, unconstitutional, or defective.

THE ECONOMY
The only proper role of government in the economic realm is to protect property rights, adjudicate disputes, and provide a legal framework in which voluntary trade is protected.

ELECTIONS
In order to grant voters a full range of choice in federal, state, and local elections, we propose the addition of the alternative "None of the above is acceptable" to all ballots.

WORLD GOVERNMENT
We support withdrawal of the United States government from, and an end to its financial support for, the United Nations. Specifically, we oppose any U.S. policy designating the United Nations as policeman of the world, committing U.S. troops to wars at the discretion of the U.N., or placing U.S. troops under U.N. command. We oppose U.S. government participation in any world or international government.

SECESSION
We recognize the right to political secession. This includes the right to secession by political entities, private groups, or individuals. Exercise of this right, like the exercise of all other rights, does not remove legal and moral obligations not to violate the rights of others.

The Proposed Draft Platform,

** A Few of My Favorite 2 x 4's **

When I read this draft Platform June 10 at the Libertarian Party Convention at Columbia, I told Bill Johnson that it hit the spot. It had my concerns regarding the right to individual secession well in hand. Reading the rest of it, I found nothing wrong. My esteem for Bill Johnson's writing ability was never higher than at that moment. I told him that he had written a good platform.

"But I didn't write this," Bill explained. "I took out the better parts of around 14 pages of the National Party Platform, minus moon rocks and such. I think the platform needs to be on one page."

I was relieved my supremacy as a writer still is marginally safe, although I can't afford to coast. My respect for Bill as an editor rose. I was amazed that the National Party had enough sense to distill down to single page, though. I thought that all the good moonshiners were down in McDonald County, Missouri, but this is one-hundred-ninety-proof Libertarianism on a gallon page. Perhaps putting it in American Gothic fonting would bring out the right tang, but enough worshipping at the still.

There are some people who have problems with this draft platform. There will probably be quite a piss-fight at the platform ratification convention, two months or so away. We Libertarians are a quarrelsome bunch. Nothing new here.

Some people will use a recipe for anarchy cooked up at the Party Convention to where it takes two-thirds majority vote to build a new Platform plank and but one-third minority vote to saw it up into kindling. At least we avoided the three-quarters/one-fourth buzz saw, but only barely. This chaos-cookbook ensures annoyed-minority rule to where it takes a super majority to get things done, but only a handful to destroy those efforts. Boiled down to its ultimate conclusion, collisions between a not-quite super-majority and a determined minority doesn't even produce rock soup. We might very well end up with an empty platform and an empty kettle. I love mixing metaphors.

I yield to no Libertarian in my detestation of majority tyranny. But what good is chaos, even for itself alone?

I asked Bill Johnson how hard he wants to fight for "his" platform. Would he appreciate a vengeful counter-attack to where if we can't get "our" platform enacted we would make damn sure that nobody else got "their" platform either? Bill said no. But contrary to debate-clubber wisdom, I don't always obey Bill.

A platform is nothing more than something a candidate stands upon if he wants. If not, it is easily ignored. In a busy campaign of limited money and press access, a candidate seldom covers all of any platform. Some planks will be raised and some discreetly hidden from public view. If a candidate can't find his favorite 2 x 4 on the platform, you can be quite certain that it will be tacked up somewhere in overt public view. Remember Chief Wanna Doobie? How could we ever forget! I haven't seen him at any of the meetings lately, but I'll bet you he'll show up in '96 if he's out of jail. We are Libertarians, not Stalinists. We can't purge the good Chief. We'll have to grin and bear his favorite 2 x 4 fashioned into a cross for the rest of us.

As an elected delegate from the 7th District to the Expediting Committee, I'll try to help mold some sort of consensus around Bill Johnson's platform. I am open to honest compromise. I'll go along if principle isn't irrevocably sacrificed. But as a Libertarian candidate for something in '96, I will be standing on a platform of my own choice. And I got a few of my own favorite 2 x 4's.

** Growing Pains **

The Missouri Libertarian Party has passed a turning point. The results are coming in. The "Shooter" or Militant faction has won, largely by default.

This divisional problem began after the November 1994 elections. The Republicans won elective office, overwhelming the Democrats. Largely unnoticed, because the Republican victory was so overwhelming, was Libertarian voter growth from under 3 percent to around 5 percent in three-party races. Libertarians averaged 15-20 percent in two-party races.

The person who got over 80,000 votes and close to 5 percent of the votes cast was Senatorial candidate Bill Johnson. Bill charmed a number of disenchanted Republicans who distrusted Ashcroft and white rural Democrats who had no use for big-city liberal Allen Wheat. As the highest vote getter ever in Missouri Libertarian Party history, Bill garnered a good deal of respect, not least because he took the time to meet and make Libertarian points to both Republican and Democrat losers of primary and general elections. As a result of his efforts in last year's races and since, Bill Johnson is the de facto strong man of the Missouri Libertarian Party.

The Missouri Libertarian Party has grown in political influence, even if not in actual membership. The Republicans poked fun of big-government Democrats for years. Now that they have won, they don't have a clue on how to proceed. They only have experience in bitching. The voters are beginning to realize this, and are disgusted with both major parties. Small towns and rural areas in Newton County voted 1 percent straight-ticket Libertarian. Greene County, home of Ashcroft, came up with over 700 straight-ticket Libertarian votes. The voters are getting restless. They will be more restless in '96. So what is stopping the Libertarian Party from reaping this harvest of discontent? Lack of real leadership or even membership within the Missouri Libertarian Party, that's what.

All those disgusted voters are not joining the Libertarian Party. They just cast their protest votes, that's all. This does not translate into more candidates, paper or otherwise. This does not translate into money or power to get our goals of a smaller, more accountable government, even when there is an aching need expressed for this by a disgusted electorate.

Missouri is the only state party with an Executive Director. There is a clear reason for this: There was a great unstated need to put a willing and dynamic Bill Johnson to work for the MOLP, and the present leadership structure was inadequate. You can't put a 440 Buick engine in a Vega, even if you are willing to put up with a six-inch driveshaft. Following the euphoria due to real progress that the '94 Missouri elections represented, Bill Johnson was elected to State Coordinator in November, and then "officially" elected to Executive Director in January. On June 10 at the Libertarian Convention, his position was "ratified" or "certified" or whatever. Did that end the matter? What do you think?

Some of the jealous party barons are pissed. They are unable or unwilling to lead or follow, but they certainly won't get the hell out of the way. They vaguely sense that it is impossibly difficult to control Bill Johnson, but they don't want to answer for driving him out. So they dig in their heels and use "procedure" and "credentialism" to gum up the works. Other of us party barons are not amused.

In Springfield and in St. Louis, there is factional political in-fighting going on between the "debate-clubbers" and the Militants. Kansas City is stable. In the other areas of Missouri, there are not enough people to provide two sides. The Springfield area even got nicknames for the sides. "Shooters" vs. "Pud-Pullers."

Steven Dasbach, Chairman of the National Libertarian Party was at the Convention on June 10, 1995. He said that the Libertarian Party is more than a debate club. To me it sounded like a defensive statement. There is enough truth in this commonly held party outsider notion for it to sting.

We "Shooters" have no intention of waiting, arguing and guzzling beer for another 20 years while we debate the finer points of governmental rascality. It's fun, like the steer trying, but it accomplishes nothing. We run for office and hope for peaceful evolution. But we prepare for sterner times by forming militias, publishing newsletters, setting up World Wide Web Pages and BBS's, filing lawsuits, making incendiary speeches. We pray that our efforts are unnecessary, while our minds tell us we must. We "Shooters" are going to ignore "Pud-Puller" complaints as to whether we are "authorized" to take action. That is why we are winning. Action always trumps inactivity.

I can't help fighting with the Pud-Pullers. Men who are not scared to take on totalitarian government and who actually enjoy the struggle enjoy clawing and popping Pud-Puller pretensions for light exercise. But I oughtn't to. Pud-Pullers are as irrelevant in a cold world as stegosaurus with his walnut-sized brain. No way they're gonna stop Shooters. We ain't gonna purge them. We need plenty of paper candidates. We might even go over them with the feather duster from time to time. And laugh at them, as I do when dogs chase my 18-wheeler. How can five disgruntled people out of 47 attendees at the Convention change the reality of 80,000+ votes for Bill Johnson? Do they have a moral right to do so? The meglomaniacal dog chasing the big rig has a better chance of accomplishment.

Stay with us, Pud-pullers. Grow with us. Or don't. There is always a place for you in the Missouri Libertarian Party. Just no longer a leadership position. You were the founding intellectuals. You fathered and birthed this Party. Please, don't try to destroy your successors or your work.

There is a third faction of small-l libertarians who haven't even bothered to show themselves. This faction is the individual sovereignty persons, the Terra Libbers. Harry Browne had something to do with Terra Libra before he decided to run for President and pissed some of them off. They are more militant than Shooters. Some of them believe in New World Order. Some of them are Birchers. Some of them are nuts. You have to come up for air if you are around some of them too long.

I call them Mustangs. They can be small, mean, tough and hammer-headed. But they can get you to where you want to go. Get on your hoss and ride. They'll make far better mounts than the fat, empty-headed government sheep or white chickens.

This is the state of the Missouri Libertarian Party, circa 1995. Now it's time to fight the real enemy [Tearing picture of Washington DC ala SinHead O'Connor].

** The Setback **

At 11:00 p.m. July 15, 1995, I received a call from Bill Johnson, Executive Director MoLP, telling me he received and accepted a job offer to be campaign manager for a Libertarian running for U.S. Senate in Alabama. The new job will be a paid position with benefits and Bill's job would be to use his political and leadership experience for the candidate. Bill did not say this, but the biggest benefits he will receive in his new job that he didn't get here in Missouri are somethings called "appreciation," "honor," and "gratitude." These things put material stuff like a house, car and green pieces of paper to shame.

The next day, Bill, Kay Sheil, MoLP Chairwoman, her husband Harold Sheil, a member of the expediting committee, and a few other people resigned at the Expediting Committee. I urged Kay not to resign, if she did nothing at all, it would deny the job to Pud-Pullers. But she thought that honor demanded resignation and she wished to devote her efforts to more productive activities. Then Bill, Kay, and Harold left.

Some Pud-Pullers wanted to fill the now empty offices forthwith, but since filling the office of chairman with but 15 votes would be synonymous with rascality, this office will be filled at the general membership meeting to discuss the Platform September 17. The office of Executive Director will stay open, it wasn't terminated, but it won't be filled by the general membership on September 17. What was Pud-Puller original sin is now a Pud-Puller sinecure. Gollum got the Ring. The dwarves must play with Thor's hammer 'till someone gets hurt. But enough of the pygmies' horrid feast.

The Springfield meeting Tuesday night, July 18, was a wake. The Shooters were mourning, the Pud-Pullers didn't show. Bill bought drinks, then left for 'Bama. What happened, what ifs, and what will bes were somberly discussed.

Bill will come up from time to time like Santy Claus to help militias and deserving Shooters. Like Rhett Butler he might even visit the Scarlett Libertarian Party from time to time although such a bitch makes a man regretful that he has a dick. The office in Springfield and the 1-800 number will probably close. Nobody cares to take up this cross on their own.

"Well, Moses," I said to Bill, "Looks like from time to time you just gotta let the bunch of them wander out into the desert and hope the smarter survivors will pay more than lip service to entering the promised land of less taxes and honest government." Bitter comparisons with Julius Caesar were also made.

After Bill left, the remaining Shooters discussed how to maintain the office, if possible, perhaps forming coalitions with militias and the Constitutional Party of Missouri to pay the bills. If not, perhaps meetings at the local library and a home phone will have to do. The Springfield Libertarian Party is further behind than it was two years ago.

So what is to be done now? Are we finished as a state party? No.

The position of Executive Director will lapse and the petty Libertarian warlords will reclaim and expand their baronies. The more energetic ones will go out and beat the tall grass for memberships, money and candidates. We have ballot access and thousands of disgruntled voters to bring into the fold. We Shooters must and will become individually stronger now that we don't have Bill to lean against anymore. Since we are on a war footing, we should be prepared for casualties when they occur, but must still go forward to meet our goals and overwhelm opposition, be it from internal Pud-Pullers or the external Great Satan of an evil, tyrannical government.

There were only 42 paid members at the Convention in June. Less than 15 Pud-Pullers tore apart the state party. If we Shooters go out and recruit active new membership, there should be no problem in shoving the Pud-Pullers back to the debate table where they belong. And when this happens, let us never forget, if or when we forgive, the fools who tried to destroy this Party for no other reason than to stroke their wee ego-organs.

Between the Revolutionary War's opening shots fired at Concord & Lexington on April 19, 1775 and the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, the Founding Fathers and the citizenry had to make a decision as to whether they would negotiate with King George to restore their rights as Englishmen or seek to found a new nation. A man called Thomas Paine published on January 10, 1776 a small pamphlet called Common Sense. Colonists up and down the seaboard read his stirring call to action. George Washington himself said it turned doubt into decision -- for independence.

This is the first part of a series. Its goal is to also turn doubt into decision -- to restore a Constitutional Republic -- by all and any means necessary.

** The Right to Revolution **

THIS MONTH WE CELEBRATED A HOLIDAY commemorating the Revolution which founded this country. The true meaning of the Declaration of Independence is Mankind's Right to Revolution. For example, examine these first key phrases of that document:

WHEN in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. -- We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. -- That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, -- That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

I CANNOT SUM UP ANY BETTER THIS RELATIONSHIP of the state as servant and the Individual as Master. If a person withdraws his consent from government, then government has no further right to control his actions, not that it ever did have a right to rule, only an obligation to serve and protect. That person can be said to have a Right to Revolution.

The other great document which arose from the First American Revolutionary War, the Constitution, is silent on what happens if one party, the one supposed to be weaker, starts violating the provisions of this social contract. It's no secret the government violates the Constitution and steals the lives, liberties, and property of its citizens. It's no longer bound by Law. The state will not respect the Individual unless the Individual has the power to destroy the state. Then it's too late. There's a simple reason why the Constitution is silent regarding government violation of Law: It's self-evident the older document, the Declaration of Independence, takes precedence. Then a person's Right to Revolution can no longer be delayed or denied.

The current system is based upon theft, not law. Social Security steals from the earnings of the young to give the elderly a pittance of what could have been retained savings. The educational system steals children from their parents and money from property owners to indoctrinate children to worship government. The poison fruits from this poison tree are illiteracy and barbarism. Politicians, bureaucrats, and judges produce new decrees enabling "government-enforcement" agencies to terrorize citizens with impunity, putting the lie to badges saying they "Protect and Serve." Huge national debts intended to enslave future generations -- if they allow it -- are run up by politicians to buy votes today. But the death of the current system is in sight. Soon there will be nothing left to steal, as bands of degenerate looters roam the land, clawing for dwindling means of survival, and honest men produce only what they can defend.

Although the present regime pretends to be a democracy where the people rule, what happens when people withdraw their consent, their persons and property from government clutches? We know full well the consequences of taking back our freedoms. Our property is seized by the IRS. We might spend some time in jail. We might even be murdered by government agents. Ask Randy Weaver or the ghosts of one of the Koresh children.

Today, if you would be free, you better figure out the costs involved. Once you choose freedom, your only choices will be either to knuckle under for the moment or fight. But once you start knuckling under, then you will do it again, because cowardice is habit-forming and you probably won't fight until you are cornered like a rat. He who lives by running away, lives to run another day. If you choose to fight, then you will have to keep fighting until either the enemy is dead or you are. There is no resigning from the underground.

Every day when I hear government officials lying about their crimes, from the First Crook on down to the local policeman, I detect the tone of "You must believe this because you must." I am supposed to become an accomplice in their thefts, kidnappings and murders by the act of willfully believing outright lies. Supposedly, patriotism consists of condoning government crime because the government does all this for me and in my name. Well, I'm not buying this evil nonsense any more. Government is a fictional entity created in our own minds, and since we create it willingly in our own minds, we find it beautiful. But the reality is a nightmare, and the actors are evil men doing evil for its own sake, believing themselves safe from any accountability. No more! No more!

The government is morally, mentally, and financially bankrupt. It forces free men to hand over further credit at gunpoint. Civilization is breaking down. The future is one vast grey cloud of totalitarianism from here to the horizon. These now and future great hurts seem bearable only to those who would benefit from them. For the rest of us, enough is enough, and we will not suffer any more wrongs, simply because things were better in the past. Now we will fight, and bring about a different, hopefully better future.

FOR EVERY SINGLE EVIL AGAINST WHICH THE FOUNDING FATHERS REBELLED, we have allowed ten.

Taxes? Even King George III didn't dare impose an income tax. The colonists threw subsidized, cheaper, better tea than the smuggled stuff into Boston Harbor. The colonists rebelled over total taxes of less than five percent per person. Compare that to the 70 percent taxation of today.

Loss of Liberty? This country imprisons over 1.3 million people and we have just beaten Russia as the country which imprisons the most of its citizens per capita. Over one half of one percent of our citizens are in jails. Some of them deserve to be in prison. But most of them are in prison not because they violated another human being's life, liberty, or property but because they didn't obey the government monster's latest whim.

Government murder? George III's redcoats only killed five Bostonians at the Boston Massacre, and they had to undergo trial. How many people were killed at the Waco Holocaust by the "government-enforcers" of our day using flame-throwing tanks? Ninety-some men, women, and children. The rascals responsible have not only not been tried for murder, they got promoted. The rest of us get to see unhung murderers investigating themselves and smarmily telling us that "Mistakes were made, but they brought it upon themselves." Ignored is the fact gun-control laws violate the Constitution and are nothing more than a power grab by cowardly Fascists who dislike the idea of being shot or hung by an enraged populace. These cowardly jack-booted government thugs went ballistic because the trapped Davidians shot back. They lied about drug labs in order to use tanks, and soon after the fire destroyed the evidence. They cut those people off from outside contact, and now that they are dead, they can make up whatever story they please about the people they killed. Government agencies investigated themselves and we are supposed to believe the resulting whitewash? The Nazis, the Communists and George III, for all their faults, were far more honest.

Now Oklahoma City comes up and we are supposed to believe government's continually changing stories and how targeted Patriot groups are responsible for the bombing. When you look at factors of ability, opportunity, and who benefits from this crime, there can be only one credible suspect: Criminal Government. By trying to blame the armed citizenry for this crime, we see not the beginning, but the middle of the beginning of a great civil war between the people and their would-be kings.

WHAT WOULD THOMAS PAINE HAVE TO SAY, if he were alive today, about the actions of the degenerate government of our time? Perhaps we can look at what he had to say about King George III after his troops burned down Portland Maine in the winter of 1775 and drove the inhabitants out to freeze.

Men of passive tempers look somewhat lightly over the offenses of Britain, {government} and, still hoping for the best, are apt to call out, Come we shall be friends again for all this. But examine the passions and feelings of mankind. Bring the doctrine of reconciliation to the touchstone of nature, and then tell me, whether you can hereafter love, honor, and faithfully serve the power that hath carried fire and sword into your land? If you cannot do all these, then are you only deceiving yourselves, and by your delay bringing ruin upon posterity. Your future connection with Britain, {government} whom you can neither love nor honor, will be forced and unnatural, and being formed only on the plan of present convenience, will in a little time fall into a relapse more wretched than the first. But if you say, you can still pass the violations {by government} over, then I ask, Hath your house been burnt? Hath your property been destroyed before your face? Are your wife and children destitute of a bed to lie on, or bread to live on? Have you lost a parent or a child by their hands, and yourself the ruined and wretched survivor? If you have not, then are you not a judge of those who have. But if you have, and can still shake hands with the murderers, then are you unworthy the name of husband, father, friend, or lover, and whatever may be your rank or title in life, you have the heart of a coward, and the spirit of a sycophant.

AMEN. FURTHERMORE . . .

Reconciliation is a fallacious dream. Nature hath deserted the connection, and Art cannot supply her place. For, as Milton wisely expresses, "never can true reconcilement grow where wounds of deadly hate have pierced so deep."

No man was a warmer wisher for reconciliation than myself, before the fatal nineteenth of April, 1775 (Massacre at Lexington),{Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Oklahoma City, April 19, 1992, 1993, 1995} but the moment the event of that day was made known, I rejected the hardened, sullen tempered Pharaoh of England {Washington} for ever; and disdain the wretch, that with the pretended title of Father of his people, can unfeelingly hear of their slaughter, and composedly sleep with their blood upon his soul. . .

I have heard some men say, many of whom I believe spoke without thinking, that they dreaded independence, {freedom} fearing that it would produce civil wars. It is but seldom that our first thoughts are truly correct, and that is the case here; for there are ten times more to dread from a patched up connection than from independence. I make the sufferers case my own, and I protest, that were I driven from house and home, my property destroyed, and my circumstances ruined, that as man, sensible of injuries, I could never relish the doctrine of reconciliation, or consider myself bound thereby. . . .

Every day wears out the little remains of kindred between us and them, and can there be any reason to hope, that as the relationship expires, the affection will increase, or that we shall agree better, when we have ten times more and greater concerns to quarrel over than ever?

Ye that tell us of harmony and reconciliation, can ye restore to us the time that is past? Can ye give to prostitution its former innocence? Neither can ye reconcile Britain {the government} and America {the people}. . .

We fight neither for revenge nor conquest; neither from pride nor passion; we are not insulting the world with our fleets and armies, nor ravaging the globe for plunder. Beneath the shade of our own vines are we attacked; in our own houses, and on our own lands, is the violence committed against us. We view our enemies {terrorcrat government enforcers} in the characters of highwaymen and housebreakers, {houseburners} and having no defence for ourselves in the civil law; are obliged to punish them by the military one, and apply the sword, {rifle} in the very case, where you have before now, applied the halter {rope}.

THIS PAINE WAS NO UNCLE TOM. He saw what needed to be done, so he urged his countrymen to exercise their Right and fulfill their Duty, and so they waged their Revolution.


*** Out At Sea ***

Editor's Note: The style content of this philosophical newsletter is determined by myself, and is really quite simple: I write what I would like to read. Outside writers very seldom meet my requirements. But I have a collection of Mr. Seaman's essays and they pass my tests. Mr. Seaman's prose is strong and confident.
I don't agree with Mr. Seaman's conclusions as to who may have bombed the Oklahoma City Federal building. I believe the government planned, organized, committed and covered-up this bombing, not native-born militia-style "terrorists." But Mr. Seaman makes a number of interesting points along the way to expressing his view that Federal chickens have indeed come home to roost in the form of a possible indigenous resistance movement. I was indeed disappointed the very first days, when it appeared that only foreign A-rabs had the courage to wage just wars of retaliation. Because of my belief as to the bombing's true federal source I still am disappointed. But Mr. Seaman's belief in the sterner stuff of American character make his writings inspiring.

** FEDERAL CHICKENS HOME TO ROOST? **

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF TRAGEDIES CONNECTED to the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City. The death and injury to those innocent children in the day-care center and citizen bystanders was as needless as sad. Rumors spread like wildfire about this group or that being at fault and we should shoot the suspects, bomb 'em out and other senseless reactions. The search for survivors hadn't been completed before politicians and their hangers-on began babbling about the need for Americans to give-up more freedom and rights under the guise of fighting terrorism. I guess it is inconceivable to them that some chickens might have come home to the federal roost; our baseless reaction now against any suspected group -- foreign or domestic -- is premature; and, we like our freedoms and rights just fine, thank you very much.

It won't matter if the Oak City bombers were members of the Islamic Jihad or one of those on the growing list of American citizens previously terrorized by the federal government. The federal government can't see this as a retaliation against either their foreign interventionism or their unpunished murder and terrorism of innocent American citizens.

I would be surprised if any American citizen was involved in the bombing. I can understand why it would occur but, Americans are too comfortable. We don't want to lose what little we might have. There seems to be no freedom, right or injustice worth the risk to us. Comfort has its cost. Comfort can produce cowards.

ONE EXTREME FEDERALIST POLITICIAN CALLED the Oak City bombers "cowards" for their act. You see, the cowards were not willing "to fight face-to-face." King George had some military tyrants on our shores who made the same observation a little over 200 years ago. They didn't get the absurdity of their statements, either.

Of course no one or group in the United States could hope to win a face-to-face armed battle with the overwhelming military might of the federal government. Such a thought is so absurdly obvious I shouldn't even have to make it and wouldn't if it weren't for less than bright people in the government and media actually saying that the Branch Davidians and some militias were/are intent on violently overthrowing the government of the United States with their guns. While Americans have a lot of guns, the federal government will always have more and a vastly superior war machine/technology.

However, the federal government certainly could lose a rebel guerrilla war over some period of time. And, to any federal peepers who might misunderstand this, I am NOT advocating such or terrorism. I am merely stating that guerrilla wars, including selective and not selective terrorism, have been won by rebels repeatedly. I also believe the federal government knows this and that (in combination with a strong desire to protect their own skins) is the real motivation for their effort to control arms of all types, not just handguns and so-called assault weapons. The federal government is more concerned with protecting itself/themselves than us, contrary to their propaganda.

UP UNTIL A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I, like many of you, considered the countless faceless horde of federal employees American citizens. I made that mistake until I discovered the elitist mentality of too many of the elected, appointed and hired federalists. They consider themselves above you and me; our money and property to be theirs; our lives and bodies theirs to control. The swift and massive federal reaction to the Oak City bombing was because some of their people were attacked, not that some of us were killed and injured, as well. Crimes against them are worse than crimes against us in their view.

As a result of the Oak City bombing, the federal government reportedly went on a nationwide alert with heightened security to protect their countless buildings and their personnel. Did this heightened security/protection extend to our institutions, buildings and people? Don't terrorists attack banks, trade centers, businesses, etc., as well as government sites?

You can bet that what concerns the federal politicians and government employees is that they might be in the cross-hairs of a scope or in a targeted federal building, not that you or I might be. You can also bet they will be more than willing to throw our rights away to protect themselves and their empire with only token resistance to appear faithful to their oaths of office.

IT MIGHT ONLY BE IRONIC THAT THIS BOMBING TOOK PLACE on the second anniversary of the Waco Holocaust. The Waco Holocaust was also rumored to have been launched out of that federal building. I don't have a lot of faith in coincidences, though. It might also be a coincidence that Janet Reno, BATF and the FBI were reportedly about to raid citizen militias about the end of March until word leaked-out. It might also be a coincidence that the FBI was rumored to have received information about the Oak City bombing six days before it occurred.

MAYBE THE WACO HOLOCAUST HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OAK CITY BOMBING. But maybe it did and there is a higher justice which acts when abominations like those in the federal government cannot be held accountable for their tyranny and murders. That justice should have spared the children and citizens, though. I would hate to think those innocents were killed and injured for retribution or just to make a point.

Perhaps Field Marshall Janet Reno is the point. I heard she had a news conference stating the full resources of the federal government would be brought to bear to bring the terrorists to justice. Why didn't she say the same things after the 25 innocent children, along with 60 related men and women, were murdered in Waco? Oh, that's right. She ordered the Waco Holocaust Final Solution. And, she still has her job, was never indicted, was never tried and will never do time in the United States. No, someone else has to pay for her crimes; then someone else, then someone else...

IN A LARGER VIEW, it probably doesn't matter if the Islamic Jihad, Red Guard, Carlos, Aryan Nation, a militia splinter group or the Boy Scouts of America bombed the Oak City federal building. It was probably done in retaliation to our government's intervention in the business of another sovereign nation or federal tyranny in the United States which went unpunished.

That is the danger: A cycle of action and reaction turning into a perpetual syndrome of federal abuse and retaliation, federal abuse and retaliation, federal abuse and retaliation. Foreign or domestic matters little to the syndrome; it keeps going around and around like in England-Ireland.

Will the federal government see and finally become accountable for its actions? Probably not. Power, and the drive to protect that power, is too strong once possessed. It is like the child riding the tiger's back. However, the thrill is replaced by being the meal. Running around in the same circle won't change the outcome until one can see the whole cycle and do something effective and lasting about it.

No, the federal government royalty will point its scepter at one group or another and beat the drum for greater revenge for killing federal employees than the same or similar act against the rest of us. To make their power and revenge even sweeter, they'll try to reduce our freedoms and rights even more. The propaganda will be that they are doing it to protect us rather than acquire more power and control unto themselves.

WELL, I HEAR THE CHICKENS COME HOME TO ROOST, whether they are cowards or not. I wonder, though, who is riding and who is the tiger?

We now live in an age where nobody trusts other people or their works, namely the institutions of government. So as a result, rumors and conspiracy theories abound, especially regarding the Oklahoma City bombing, and its elder brother, Waco. Below are some of the more interesting and commonly held conspiracy theories garnered from various patriot organizations. Believe whatever you wish to believe, be it all of these theories, some of them, or none.

The very existence of these conspiracy theories tend to prove that trust is a difficult thing to reclaim once lost, and that government institutions are facing a legitimacy crisis.

** The Manchurian Candidate and **

** the Demolition Charges **

Retired Air Force General Benton Partin, who spent 25 years in non-nuclear weapons Research & Development, has sent a widely-distributed letter to patriot organizations and Congressmen stating "I can say with a high level of confidence that the damage pattern on the reinforced concrete superstructure could not have possibly been attained from the single truck bomb without supplemental demolition charges at some of the reinforced column bases. The total incompatibility with a single truck bomb lies in the fact that either some of the columns collapsed that should not have collapsed or some of the columns are still standing that should have collapsed and did not."

"An oversimplified analogy will help you see this point. It would be as irrational or as impossible as having a 150 pound man sit in a flimsy chair and the chair collapses, then a man weighting 1500 pounds sitting [sic] in an identical flimsy chair and it does not collapse -- impossible."

"When I first saw the pictures of the truck bomb's asymmetrical damage to the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, my immediate reaction was that the pattern of damage would have been technically impossible without supplementing demolition charges at some of the reinforcing concrete column bases (a standard demolition technique)."

"First, a blast through the air is a very inefficient energy coupling mechanism against heavily reinforced concrete beams and columns. Second, blast damage potential initially falls off far more rapidly than an inverse function of the distance cubed. That is why in conventional weapons development, one seeks accuracy over yield for hard targets."

"I would strongly urge that the U.S. Congress take steps to assure that evidence in Oklahoma City be independently evaluated by a collection of demolition experts from the private sector before the building is demolished. It is easy to determine whether a column was failed by contact demolition charges or by blast loading. I understand the building is to be destroyed May 23rd or 24th. Why the rush to destroy the evidence?"

Why the rush indeed! Why do you think there was a rush? Could it be . . . . the government has something to hide? It's not too hard to become cynical or paranoid in short order with this rapscallion government around. Some people call it Waco-ising evidence. Policemen involved destroy the evidence, say "mistakes were made," blame the victims or some pre-selected target group, and proclaim to an increasingly dubious public that they are still capable of conducting their own housekeeping. If only the SS could of investigated Dachau! Schoolchildren would have "learned" that the Holocaust was a myth promulgated by Zionists.

General Partin observes that there are no shortage of patsies to take the rap for government misconduct. A country that produces a Lee Harvey Oswald can easily produce a Manchurian Candidate like Timothy McVeigh. He could even be taught to grin, smile, shuck and jive upon command. He's an Army man.

If McVeigh is a militiaman or a patriot, the best thing he could do for his country is kill himself, or better yet, to either lie or tell the truth and say that the government put him up to it. The Army's microchip implanted in his ass gave him the nod. Get ready for the show-trial of the century or even millennium.

** The Magic Blasting Cap **

Closely related, and sometimes even a part of the above mentioned conspiracy theory, is the Magic Blasting Cap Theory. Ever hear of the Magic Bullet Theory regarding the Kennedy assassination? The Magic Bullet was no ordinary bullet, it did a whole bunch of stuff with Kennedy's head as if it was radio-controlled by LBJ hisself.

So with the Magic Blasting Cap. It detonated a whole bunch of ammonia nitrate and diesel fuel in ten or twelve blue-plastic barrels at the same time in an aluminum-bodied Ryder truck so that none of the explosion was wasted. Yeah, really. The Army ought to stop firing expensive milled artillery shells of brass and steel out of its howitzers -- it can use plastic shells. It's just a matter of using the right fuse.

This theory does make sense when you figure out that countries throughout the world have had such fuses for quite some time. It takes such a fuse to detonate high explosive around a nuclear warhead, pushing the uranium or plutonium into a critical mass necessary for fission, then fusion, causing a hydrogen-bomb blast. These type fuses have been available for 40 years, because they are necessary for modern nuclear warfare. The United States took the lead in developing such incredibly timed fuses, followed by Russia, Britain, France, Israel, and China. Without these fuses, a thermonuclear bomb needs quite a lot of megatonnage to work. Saddam Hussein wanted these type fuses, literally worth more than their weight in plutonium, but we wouldn't let him have any, which is probably a good thing. Sovereign nuclear powers don't sell these things at Radio Shack. So how did two nitwits like McVeigh and Nichols get a hold of such a timer? Or did they just get lucky and have all twelve barrels go off at once so that none of the fuel oil and fertilizer mixture was scattered around before it could detonate? Naaaah! So, according to this theory, where did these Army homeboys get the fuses?

Oh, I don't know! Could it be . . . . the government? Noooo! Our government wouldn't do anything like that would it? Well, would it? I need some hand-holding and reassurance right now.

True connoisseur conspiracy theorists mix this one up or drink it straight from the bottle to create their favorite volatile cocktail.

** Shit Happens . . . or **

** All We Need is a Little Sympathy **

Another conspiracy theory making the rounds is as follows: The First Crook and co-president Swillery are a free-market non-Don-Tyson- Arkansas-cattle-futures cinch to become one-termers. Their high-water mark was that Greatest-Moment-in-the-History-of-White-Trash time known as Inauguration Day, January 20, 1993. Since then, the outside-the-beltway tax-peasants have gotten restless. No health care. While the assault-weapons anti-crime bill passed, the peasants are buying them faster than ever. The peasants might find a Wat Tyler to lead the tax revolt -- or even worse -- a Robespierre to hang the modern-day Annanias and Sapphira by their necks with lengths of their own small intestine. The ancien regime is in trouble! They might storm the Bastille! Can't have that! What is needed is an outside threat. Soon! Before it's too late! Now! All we need is a little sympathy.

So FBI and BATF agents planned to blow up the Federal building in Oklahoma City, where not-coincidentally a number of Waco papers are filed. Blowing up a building on April 19th would enable the government to blame the appropriate target groups without too much muss or fuss. They practiced and practiced until they got it right, or thought they did. They lined their stooges all up in a row, and planned it for six o'clock a.m, but super-stupor-trooper McVeigh overslept and got lost. That is why he asked a policeman for directions. Since the main actor wasn't on the stage at the right time, the play was halted until 9:00 a.m. and the BATF boys didn't show up for their party. The rest of their fellow government workers were deemed expendable. All for the greater good of government.

Of course, when McVeigh was late, he got flustered. He parked the truck, ran away to a safe location, and pushed the button. Soon he is wending his way north on I-35 with an unconcealed pistol and no license plate, unready to make his mark upon history.

This theory has the government being of a divided mind regarding whether the end justifies the means. They don't even got a bad character, as they are unable to decide whether to shit or get off the pot. Such a conspiracy theory is of great comfort to people who despise the government more than they fear it.

** I'll Bump Off Your Ex-Wife . . . If **
** You'll Throw Momma From the Train **

In the movie of the same title, Danny DeVito tries to talk Billy Crystal into the perfect crime. By each man bumping off the other's troublesome female relation, they escape suspicion due to apparent lack of motive.

A similar conspiracy theory aired during the June Senate hearings on the militia movement. Commander of the Michigan Militia Norman Olson was questioned on a fax he sent April 28 stating that the Japanese had bombed the Oklahoma City Federal Building in retaliation for the subway sarin nerve gas attack. Commander Olson said facts had been brought to him by government agents, and since he doesn't have adequate facilities to investigate, he sent it on for the press to investigate. On further questioning by one of the Senators, Olson said, "If we wait, and the investigation is done, I believe we will find collusion between governments in involvement with the Oklahoma City bombing."

Nonsense. The Japanese are a rational people. They look at this rapidly developing third-world country with a corrupt government and they want no involvement in its internal affairs. If they need or want something from us, they'll buy it.

Gary Tuchman: Edye, at this point you're very busy. You've been talking to people like us, you've been talking with police officials, you've been with your family. But in the next couple of months when things get quieter here in Oklahoma City, do you think it will begin getting tougher for you?

Edye Smith: Yeah, but I don't think things are going to start getting very quiet, you know? There's a- there are a lot of questions we don't have answers for, we're being told to keep our mouths shut, not talk about it, don't ask those questions, and I think things are going to get a lot busier.

Gary Tuchman: What kind of questions have people been telling you to keep your mouth shut about?

Edye Smith: Well, we've- just from the very beginning, we, along with hundreds and thousands of other people, want to know just- and we just innocently ask questions, you know- where was ATF? All 15 or 17 of their employees survived, and they live- they're on the ninth floor. They were the target of this explosion, and where were they? Did they have a warning sign? I mean, did they think it might be a bad day to go to the office? They had an option to not go to work that day, and my kids didn't get that option, nobody else in the building got that option. And we're just asking questions, we're not making accusations. We just want to know, and they're telling us 'Keep your mouth shut, don't talk about it.'

Gary Tuchman: Well, Edye Smith and the Wilburns, thanks for joining us. Obviously, there are still a lot of questions that have to be answered about this investigation, and I'm sure you'll be seeking answers to those questions.
Very important thing to point out. There is still work to be done at the site. There are the bodies of two victims still inside the building, and it's believed the body of a third man is also there. They will immediately start looking for those victims. This is Gary Tuchman, CNN Live, in Oklahoma City.

This is not a conspiracy theory. This is political natural law.

** Thieves Fall Out **

This one is fun. According to some, Waco was caused by now-Secretary of the Treasury Rubin.

When Rubin was a minor bureaucrat, he had stolen a number of M-60 machine-guns and M-16 assault rifles from corrupt soldiers running armories. So to get them cached before sale, he had them sent to his good friend, David Koresh in Waco, Texas. Koresh decided for his own reasons to keep them, not sell them and divide the profits with his former friend. Rubin, by then a rising Treasury bureaucrat, sikked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms on the Branch Davidians. BATF is a bureau within the Treasury Department. The rest is history.
